This center is under supervision of  Semnan University of Medical Sciences and established in 2002, first named Internal Medicine Research Center (IMRC) and after communication with authorized ministry due to wide field of internal medicine renamed to Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases Research Center (GILRC) in 2005. this center placed in Fatemieh Hospital.

Now due to absence of any center for research in internal medicine field, this center supports this field too.
